Once a month, I post letters from you, with smart alec replies from me. Don't you feel special? Send your letters to corey_spark@hotmail.com.
Curse you for creating characters that we can identify with :) Just kidding (about the cursing you and all, wouldn't want to condemn you to fire and brimstone or some such), just writing to say that I really like the strip... it being pretty much the only comic strip out there that has... well... realistic characters. Kirb 'specially is one that I know all too well ;). Keep up the awesome writing!
-Matt
Hey Matt!
Fire, brimstone, the DMV, it's all the same to me. I'm glad you like the realism of the strip, although now I'll probably have to leave out the space mutant alien robots who take over the shop next month. oops.
Hi Corey!
I just wanted to drop you a quick line...I'm a new reader to "Common Grounds" and now I'm hooked! I really like how you've developed the personalities of your characters and the flow of the story. You've got a great site, too!
May I link to you from my site?
Keep up the great work -- you've got a reader for sure!
-Aimee
hi there, Aimee!
thanks for the line, glad you like the strip. Of course, you can always link to CG! In fact, here are some banners and buttons to assist you!
So... 'lust' is at 60% in the poll, and you decide to show them kissing, and you talk about 'gut wrenching climaxes' in the news... Or am I reading too much into that?
-- David L.
Dear Dave,
yes.
Hi Corey!
Ohmigosh...! I don't know how you've done it but today's comic just cheesed my heinie something fierce. But you know, like, in a good way. I'm boggled. I'm dismayed. It's just a comic, I tell myself, clasping hand to heart to head, just silly made-up characters, just...dare I say...digitally directed soap opera. Oh me oh my.
And yet I am touched... Dare I say, disgusted, with the foolishness that is the mortal heart, so easily shatterable. Erik's a bastard, of course, but it's an old, sad, common tale of woe. So many of us have been tempted toward torrid betrayal (So few of us blessed with the perfection of Twoo Wuv!). And Cyn, distraught, disparate, depressed, looking for a sympathetic soul to cling to. To Kirby, of course, to poor mournful Kirby, her very broken heart and the circumstances of which being the last thing he needs to be revealed to, to hear sad justification of his inability to meet her standards.
Oh such a tangled tragic triangular web you weave. Draw on, fair muse, draw on and show us the foibles of the universal love affair, that murky swamp which we all cheerfully and eagerly dance through with visions of that perfect happiness dancing upon the horizon.
Good Lord I've had a LOT to drink.
I'll be seeing, er, reading you. Take it easy. Love the strip! Uh. Obviously.
kirin
Dear Kirin,
yes.
Hey there.
I'm a fan of your strip, but I was wondering how's it going, because you seem to be pretty .. busy .. since CG isn't getting too many updates recently. You got the soap opera thing down.. I am so mad at every character in your strip right now!
So is something up, or have you just not had time recently. I know if I was in your shoes I'd never get it updated so I really respect that you selflessly create this without any guarantee of reciprocity.
And you're pretty cool.
ErikPeter Walker
Dear ErikPeter,
