Once a month, I post letters from you, with smart alec replies from me. Don't you feel special? Send your letters to corey_spark@hotmail.com.

Hey,

Your probably hear this alot, but I just wanted to compliment you on your comic strip ^_^. I love you drawing style, it's to bad so many webcomics seem to just throw their's together, but yours all seem to have some care put into them.

Cheers!

Hey.

You've hit the nail on your head. Some care definitely goes into each one of my strips. In fact, the exact breakdown is one part care, two parts sarcasm, and one part each of blood, sweat and tears. Mix. Bake at 350 degrees. Chill. Serve with whipped topping.

Greetings, I was just over checking out reallife comics and I saw where you had taken over for Greg so I figured I check out your site as well. I must say it doesn't hit as close to home for me as reallife, but I find it highly amusing to say the least. How long did it take you come up with that name, that is truly original and oh so witty. Well, I was going to ask exactly how you went about making your comic strip, but I see that stupid me could have just checked the links on your page. Anyway, I was thinking of trying my own hand at it, so if you had any other suggestions I would be more than appreciative if you could share them with me. Again, congrats on the site...keep up the good work.

Kevin

Dear Kevin,
Little known fact: the original name of CG was going to be "The Java Joint." Luckily, the muse of good taste sent "Common Grounds" my way, and I happily used it. I have a few suggestions listed in the FAQ. Look for an expanding section to come soon. (see also: as soon as corey gets off her lazy butt.)

Corey:

Just a note -- came across your Common Grounds strip from the link at Real Life (Keenspot -- what to do at work when it's slow...) and I just had to read it (including the archives.) Good/old friend of mine manages a Coffee Shop here in Denver actually named Common Grounds...not quite the same as your strip, but your strip reminded me of a place we used to go together when we were teenagers (which was actually about 3 millenia ago...)

I'm not in the habit of sending feedback mail, but wanted to drop you a quick line to tell you to keep up the good work! Will keep you on the list of daily strips I read whenever a) I'm trying to relieve the stress at work, or b) those rare moments when there's no crisis anywhere in the world and I'm actually bored ;) I'm also sending the URL to the friend I mentioned -- he'd get a kick out of it too I'm sure!

Take care, and keep the strips coming :)

Lucretia:

Great to hear from you. Seems there are all kinds of actually Common Grounds lurking around the world. Eventually, I may just have to make a page of them. Glad you like the strip, and hope you keep reading.

A couple of weeks ago I could swear you asked somewhere on a forum if anyone had seen a real Common Grounds coffeeshop anywhere and where it was to let you know out of curiosity. I just got home the other evening from a week-long vacation in Ocean City, MD and I can report with distinct confidence that there is a Common Grounds coffeeship and (get this) internet cafe in downtown OC, at 5 South Baltimore Avenue. I'm sure there are more elsewhere but this is my sighting. :) The building itself would be otherwise unassuming were it not for the fact that it is painted shades of dark purple with swirly cosmic star and galaxy stuff painted all over it. :)

Barry,

Sounds groovy.

I might as well take the time to say how much I enjoy your comics. I started reading Sit and Spin last year and bookmarked Common Grounds when you first posted the link. The artwork and writing's great and I really like the characters, especially Erik. Thanks for taking the time to create both of your comic strips and share them with the rest of us.

Everyone seems to like Erik. C'mon, people, he's supposed to be the quasi-evil one! Thanks for the kind words.

Hey. I just read the bit from Tristan on your Common Grounds fan mail page. Tris is from Winnipeg too, huh? But there is more than one Common Ground Cafe.

http://www.twelvetribes.com/Common%20Ground%20Cafes.html

But their place is called The Common Ground. Yours is Common Grounds. The plural makes the difference.

I wrote about the Twelve Tribes folks for my column, Heaven and Hill.

Ryan,

This just keeps getting wierder and wierder.

Hiya,

I was just writing to thank you for the work you have been doing. I know it can't be easy (see Etherlife, Lethal Doses, Elflife etc. for examples). I hope you don't call it quits. One of the few pleasures in my sad little life is reading the online comics that people like you, Scott Kurtz, and Greg Dean put out. Thanks again.

Doug

Doug,

Thanks for the kind words. The fact that you use me as an example in the same sentence with Scott Kurtz and Greg Dean lead me to believe that you either really really like me, or, (more likely) you are on crack.
